The biggest obstacle has always been the weight of the monthly payment. A solar system is financed through a monthly payment, and even though it saves money in the long run, that recurring bill holds back many families who would benefit enormously from clean energy. That is where HopeSource comes in: we are a nonprofit that connects contributions from private investors with families who want to produce their own clean energy.
Our model is simple. We operate exclusively with private investors, who join the program with a $100,000 contribution; families receive a subsidy that drastically lowers their solar monthly payment, without contributing money; and the planet wins with every home that stops depending on fossil fuels.
